In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, YOLAN developed the toolkit “Virtual Safe Spaces” to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 on youth, particularly women. In country contexts like Afghanistan, the pandemic and living in social distancing could cause deep socio-psychological effects. During such crises, it is important that youth are working along with other society sectors to use the best practices such as e-learning and other digital tools to address these challenges.
Virtual Safe Spaces is not a new concept but a best-practice tool that utilized internationally by civil society sectors. YOLAN contextualized and built on the works of others and developed the VSS toolkit in Dari language.
The toolkit briefs about Virtual Safe Spaces, how it can be utilized in contexts like Afghanistan and what could be relevant topics to be discussed in virtual safe spaces. Finally, YOLAN is planning a series of exclusive sessions using VSS that will be announced latter. To access the pdf format of the toolkit please click here.
